Operational alert due to winter weather

Due to winter weather impacts, the operational status at the Johns Hopkins University campuses has shifted and campus will be closed for in-person activities, events, and on-site classes beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Please use the following for guidance:

  • In-person classes will not be held onsite after 6 p.m. but may be offered online and online/remote classes may be held as scheduled.  Students will be notified as soon as possible regarding changes to their instructional schedule, including virtual classes.
  • The Johns Hopkins Health System hospitals are open.
  • All required on-site attendance staff and essential clinical employees should report as scheduled.
  • Required off-site attendance staff (Exempt and Non-exempt) must work during a delayed arrival weather event.
  • Staff who cannot work, due to personal circumstances, may use accrued leave with supervisory approval.
  • Non-Required Attendance staff (Non-exempt) who are not required to work during an early closing will receive their regular rate of pay for any time missed as a result of the weather event.
  • For Bargaining Unit Staff
    • University staff represented by Unite Here should report to work as scheduled and follow specific guidance issued by Dining management and the relevant CBA provisions. All scheduled staff should report to Hopkins Cafe.
    • For university staff represented by LIUNA, the university will be considered closed until 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
  • The Homewood-Peabody-JHMI Shuttle will continue operating as scheduled as long as conditions permit.
  • The East Baltimore Blue Jay Shuttle will be in operation from 5:30 p.m.–midnight as scheduled.
  • Expect delays and slow travel times and utilize Transloc for shuttle tracking and booking.
  • All other Daytime Routes will conclude service with a 6 p.m. departure or earlier as scheduled.  Later scheduled trips serving Mt. Washington, Carey Business School and DC Shuttle will not operate.
  • The Homewood Blue Jay Shuttle will not operate.
  • On the Homewood campus, the Milton S. Eisenhower Library Annex, Brody Learning Commons will close at 6:00 pm, and the Ralph S. O’Connor Recreation Center will close at 8 p.m.. All Rec Center programs and classes after 6 p.m. are cancelled.
  • The Hopkins Café and operations at Levering and Charles Street Market will close at 9 p.m.
